Thailand Missions Consultation Roundtable

There must have been more than 150 delegates at the recent Missions Consultation Roundtable, hosted by our Diocese in Bangkok. Representatives from other parts of the Anglican Communion and Mission agencies were also present to explore the possibilities of partnership. Detailed presentations were made on the work in each country. Bishops from the Province of Myanmar were also present to share their heart-rending stories of the local work and the work amongst the displaced Karens at the border…

We (including Pas Henry and Glenn Lim) have just returned from an amazing one-week Vision trip which was called ‘witnessing the revival hearts of Korean churches.’ It was jointly organised by Alpha Korea and Alpha Asia-Pacific. More than a hundred pastors and leaders from Asia and Central Asia participated.

Going Back to Basics

We welcome Pastor Sai Moi as she preaches the Word this morning. Sai Moi has served in another large Anglican parish for over 30 years in various pastoral capacities. As Vicar, I am only too glad that she can assist me in pastoring the flock (via the Cell ministry) and sharing in one of my key pastoral responsibility in the ministry of the Word. She has been visiting various Cells since she joined us on the 1st of June and I am sure by now, some of you have gotten to know her personally....

Life Changing Moments

Have you ever wonder how we should respond to the sermons we hear every Sunday? Since I became a church-goer at 13, I must have listened to over a thousand sermons.
Before I can finish processing the one I heard last week, a new one comes hard hitting, in the face and soul-piercing. Often, I find some of the sermon series in SJC coming at me in that manner. It is easy to forget what was said, given our limited ‘storage’, as a more current one replaces what was heard a while back....

Spiritual Formation in Community

“Spiritual formation” is a phrase that is not as commonly understood as similar phrases like ‘discipleship’ and ‘leadership development’ yet it is something which I observed in recent years as critical in a spiritual leader’s development....

Intention to Change

School is over for the day. It needed a 30-minute bus ride and a 15 minute walk to get to the church. In the heat of noontime, and carrying that heavy school bag, I was all hot and sweaty by the time I arrived.................

Refresh

I shared about my late Aunt’s conversion to Christ last Sunday. This week I was exchaning thoughts with an old friend on how the church community in KL/PJ have been effectively witnessing (through Alpha and other ways). One by one, our relatives are being reached by the Gospel. This seems very unlikely when we first came to Christ in our teen years. But churches have been both obedient and living out their faith and thus, the witnessing impact....

A Cord Of 3 Strands

We were very blessed at the recent Combined Camp at Concorde Hotel, Shah Alam (Malaysia). About 200+ campers from all three congregations were gathered.  Every session was interpreted into Mandarin, which worked well. Many were able to interact more closely across congregations and I am sure the bonds formed can be further strengthened with future opportunities........
