Greetings to all! Happy school holidays

Last Week

THANKSGIVING & PRAYER

We welcome our brother Wai Kit and Maggie back and thank God for bringing them safely back to Singapore! Welcome Szuyu to who joined us last week. We pray that you may be blessed through your experience with Connect and we look forward to seeing you at our meetings in future

JYM will be holding the REVELATION 3 concert this Sat, 23rd June 7:30 pm. Let’s support JYM in this event and continue to pray that God will continue to transform lives through this concert and through the speaker Glenn Lim’s testimony.

Connect will be having a retreat on the 6th-8th of July! We encourage everyone to join us as far as possible and enjoy a time of fun and fellowship. For those who are coming, please bring $20 to the Connect meeting this Fri for the retreat.

CONNECT SHARING

Last week we had our Bro Boon Cheang share with us about evangelism and missions.

We learnt that we are SENT

As in John 17:18 and 20:21, we are commissioned and carry the mantle of responsibility to the church. As we will be held accountable, we should not misdirect our time, energy and finance to good but wrong priorities. However, we should not compare ourselves with others as the work of evangelism is not about success, but effectiveness.

We are also GATHERED

Individual followers of Christ would naturally gather together and this is good as an individual is always frail and vulnerable. In a community, unlike merely a crowd, there is commitment. There is interdependence and the togetherness becomes a power source for evangelism.

Finally, we are SCATTERED

The communities we are involved in are never meant to be cacoons. As in Acts 8:1 and Acts 11:19, we are to be scattered in the world as salt for Christ. The results can be seen as in Acts 11:21 – “The Lord’s hand was with them, and a great number of people believed and turned to the Lord”

The true church is the commissioned community who are scattered in the society and as in Acts, God uses lay people to do His work of evangelism as well.  So let us equip ourselves to reach out and introduce people to a relationship with God!

“My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.” - John 17:21
