Design & Facilities

1. Worship & Prayer
The new design will give us a 800-seater sanctuary, 400-seater second sanctuary as well as 200-seater auditorium.  These will also serve the Youth and Super Powerkid Services. Apart from an increase in capacity, these purpose-built facilties will also enhanced prayer and worship in our community. There will also be a new prayer chapel and additional prayer rooms.

2. Community Spaces
Community areas are important for all sorts of interaction. After all, the church is also about our community life together and giving priorities to meeting new friends. We have ample space and facilities provided for this at the Community Plaza and Sky Terrace.

3. Ministry Facilities
The new design provides adequate rooms and open spaces for ministries.  We will have facilities for Alpha dinners, community outreach events, training events and conferences. Special projects can also be supported such as crisis-relief and other mission-related ones.

4. Support Facilities
We will be able to provide adequate facilities like cry-rooms, more car-park lots, lifts and wheel-chair ramps.

5. Children Ministry
The children ministry will also be enhanced. Parents will also be able to enjoy the community areas. We are making St James’ Church Kindergarten a center for excellence in pre-school education and help inspire other pre-school centers to be so. The popular Super Powerkids will also benefit from the new faciltiies.

6. Our place and witness in the Holland Village area
The vibrant Hollan Village area has gone through many facelifts over the years. The new nearby MRT station will be ready by 2010. The new building will enable the church to have a relevant presence in this area. The new church frontage will be more accesible, with a friendly “crossroad” welcome.

7. Other future possibilities?
And what new ministries and opportunities will this new facility possibly bring? We are ‘preparing the way’ for future generations and for them to do ‘new and greater works’ for the Lord. May SJC continue to be a blessing to many.
