Guide to Using the 24-7 Prayer Room

A GUIDE TO USING THE PRAYER ROOM AS A FAMILY/ SMALL GROUP

  • Start your hour by taking a few minutes to read through the guides found in labeled files most suitable for you. There are categories for parents with children, families/ mums & dads, as well as for teens.
  • Invite God into your group and remember the key verses to this 24-7 Prayer Week:

  • “"Even now,” declares the LORD, “return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning.” Gather the people, consecrate the assembly; bring together the elders, gather the children, those nursing at the breast. Let the bridegroom leave his room and the bride her chamber.” Joel 2:12,16

“Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen:
to loose the chains of injustice
and untie the cords of the yoke,
    to set the oppressed free
    and break every yoke?

Is it not to share your food with the hungry
and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter—
when you see the naked, to clothe him,
and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?

Then your light will break forth like the dawn,
    and your healing will quickly appear;
then your righteousness will go before you,
and the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard.

    Then you will call, and the LORD will answer;
you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I…” Isaiah 58:6-9

  • Be mindful that the objective of this second 24-7 Prayer Week is to Rebuild the Life of this church – starting from families. Pray for unity & strengthening of those bonds, a revival in our spiritual lives. Understand that for rebuilding to take place, it has to start with demolition – be sure your heart is humbled & surrendered before God, Your Father.
  • Be sure to check out the brand new books on the shelves, specially written for Parents of Toddlers, Children 8-12, Teens, Husbands, Wives & Families.
  • Just before your hour is up, do spend a few minutes praying for the next person/ family/ small group after you. This will be a lovely way of keeping the spirit of being “One Body” going – passing the baton, so that that everyone who enters the room has been prayed for or will be prayed for.
  • Pray as the spirit leads you – there’s no right or wrong way to pray. Relax & enjoy your time in the room.
  • Thank you so much for your faithfulness & obedience in signing-up! May God bless your time with Him as a family richly.

    ___________________________________________________________

  • Remember, the focus is on Father, Son & Holy Spirit.
    It’s all about our God.
Please make sure that everything you do in this room is done worshipfully, with humility, reverence & watchfulness.
Give glory to God, not the artwork, or poems, or articles you see. It’s about entering into His REST, Seeking His will, Hearing His voice, Encountering Revelation & Growing a more INTIMATE RELATIONSHIP with Him.
  • “And pray in the Spirit on all occasions WITH ALL KINDS OF PRAYERS AND REQUESTS. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.” Ephesians 6:8
This room aims to help you pray in all kinds of ways, using all your senses! This is not a test, but do consider how you can communicate worshipfully with God through these:
    TOUCH SPEAK
    SMELL ART
    TASTE MUSIC
    HEAR SILENCE
    SEE READ
Invite the Holy Spirit to help you engage in a fruitful time of prayer using some (if not all!) of the above.
  • Many articles/ prayer resources & guides have been provided for your convenience – please flip through the file at the desk!
  • If you like, bring in whatever will help you pray! Bring your own resource materials to use, or to add to the room - whether it’s articles, books, bibles, poems, paints, or other creative means – and worship the Lord with them.
  • Feel free to add scripture/ words that have inspired you or that God has revealed to you, anywhere in the room – write on the paper provided on the desk, then use the pins/ tape/ blutac provided – but do so neatly, with consideration for others who share the room with you.
  • On the desk, you will find 2 spiral notebooks:
    1. The 24-7 Prayer Week Journal
Go ahead - pen your prayer requests & answers, thoughts, poems, revelations, artwork in here – so that others who read may be encouraged and blessed.
    2. Guestbook
Leave your mark and your opinion about your experience in the 24-7 Prayer Room!
  • Please DO NOT REMOVE anything that does not belong to you from this room!
  • Please KEEP THE ROOM NEAT AND TIDY AND PLEASANT-SMELLING!
  • Please help us improve on the 24-7 setup by filling in a feedback form and dropping it in the box after.
  • Please help yourself to the biscuits and hot beverages.
  • Do inform the staff-on-duty if we’ve run out of supplies of any sort – food, drink, paper, pens, pains, etc.
  • Please inform the staff-on-duty if the next person on the roster has not arrived – we’ll try to keep the punctuality and accountability going.
