Our JYM youths had an interesting 4 day Adventure Camp experience at Kota Tinggi this week. Though the wet weather scuttled many parts of the programme, it was one which bonded many of them closer together. Part of the programme was a day hike up the waterfalls which became an overnight trip as the river crossing has swollen due to the heavy rain during the day. It was completely unexpected and even the guides were caught unprepared. So, out in the cold, without any food or thick clothing, huddled together in intermitent rain, they waited for day light. Some parents were with them.
Awful as the experience was, it is a memorable and interesting experience of outdoor life and learning to stick together in times of unexpected adversity. Perhaps their experience is prophetic of the years to come as they grow and journey together as a faith community. Once again we thank Pas Henry and his team for their dedication to our young people. Glory to His name.
There is a slew of Holy Week Services and meetings which you can attend this week. You can also book prayer slots for the 24/7 programme. Think of a friend to invite for Good Friday and Easter Combined Celebration, where the gospel message is presented in different ways. The theme for our Good Friday is “O God, why are you silent.” It focuses on the theme of suffering through a meditative Service of readings, chorales. Scriptural reflections and prayers. What Christ has done for us through the passion and the cross can minister and bring hope to our hurting lives and world. For Easter, we have “Divine Exchange”, where through creative music, drama and dance, the Gospel message is shared.
As for the last Sunday on the month (30th), those in the 7.30 am and 11.15 am Services need to remember to join in the thanksgiving breakfast at 10.40 am for the ministry of both Pas William Chee and Pas Richard Chung.
