    Crossroad Vision Statement

“We are a Crossroad Church for Seekers, Disciples, the Body of Christ and the Nations; obeying the Great Commandment and fulfilling the Great Commission in the power of the Holy Spirit.”

We are aware that this vision statement owes itself to the Great Commission given in Matthew 28:18-20. It is a global vision which is both the basis and duty of every local church.

A global vision needs many local ones. Or as the Chinese saying puts it, the journey of a thousand miles, begin with a step.

For us here, the process of working out the five year vision allows us to reevaluate again the very basics of our worship, ministry and church life here. We do not want to be caught in the urban thinking that the past is always wrong, present always faulty and the future always about trying to get things to be better. An urbanite is always brooding about the past, discontented about the present and a perfectionist about the future.

But as the church is a living expression of the Great Commission, and our fundamental obedience to our biblical calling means that we should always be ad fontes (back to the source). With the passage of time and changes in our society, we need to examine how we can continue to help each other to follow Christ. There is also a natural tendency to dissipate (2nd principle of thermodynamics) or grow cold (Rev 3:16) and with everything that has life, it needs renewal.

We are doing all this as we rebuild the physical buiding. Even more so, we need to for our spiritual life together. This is at the heart of it why this coming Leaders Conference is important. We come together as disciples in need of mutual accoutability, encouragement and movement together if anything of lasting significance is to happen.

While the vision process may involve various ministry strategies and noble aims to improve our worship and community life together, we should never lose sight of each precious person which the Lord has entrusted to us here in SJC. The sermon on Zaccheaus and the current ones on the signs of Jesus remind us that to the Lord, each individual is unique, special, loved and gifted with a divine and eternal purpose.

It is our prayer that every individual here will meet and walk with our Lord Jesus. We will come together this Saturday, in obedience to our Lord and the commission He has given us.
