Reflections

This Sunday is our Trinity Theological College Sunday. We welcome Dr Tan Kim Huat to all our Services. We have currently two students studying there, Maggie and Lucilla. Most of you do now know that I also represent the Anglican Church as a member of the Personnel Committee. It is a burden of my heart (and many others) that TTC, while striving for academic excellence, is also focused on the orthodox ministerial formation of her students. This is also a task of the church, not just the college.

We welcome Tan Sai Moi as she joins the staff this week. I have always known her as “Pastor Sai Moi” from her many years of serving in her previous parish. After a year’s break, she is resuming her ministry here. I have asked her to give immediate priority to head and strengthen our Cell ministry. She will also head our Christian Education. With your prayers and support, I believe that she will be able to settle in here well. Of course, some of the deepest needs in the life of the church are the discipling and pastoral needs. This is an area which she will give priority to as well. Get to know her!
We are now a month away from the Church Camp. We can look forward to the ministry of Pas Daniel Ho and Pas Chris Kam from Damansara Utama Methodist Church (DUMC, PJ). There are many qualities about this church which I find very encouraging and I can sense that their input will be critical at this juncture of our church’s life.  DUMC completed their move to a new building, which they named “Dream Center” just last year. It is a powerful and God-glorifying vision which I sensed as I attended my eldest brother’s baptism there. I am excited about his ministry with us and the prophetic words which we will need to hear as a church together.

Next Sunday will be unusual as we have a team from Taiwan leading our Services. They are involved in ministry to troubled teens. Their testimonies will continue to remind us of the need to turn our hearts to those in our own society.

Mother’s Day celebration is also coming up soon. It is a ‘big Sunday” which provides a wonderful opportunity to bring friends. Have you invited your (or a) mother yet? I believe the event and
message will also speak to those who are struggling in their relationship with their parents.

And even as we celebrate the Ascension this morning, may we return to our homes, mindful of the continual call to share the Gospel till He comes again.
