Season of Change

Both Pas Andrew and me were away over two weekends to minister to a group of Canadian Anglican leaders. We met at a beautiful retreat center near the border, south of Vancouver. In spite of various challenges including visa difficulties, jet-lag and the cold, as a whole, the ministry went well. The trip was both an eye opener and ‘heart-opener’ experience as we hear and sense the ministry challenges they face in a church and society which have abandoned orthodox beliefs. Many of the leaders there are experienced ministers and pastors themselves. There is much we can learn and be ecnouraged by their ministry too and I a hope some of them can visit us here in Singapore soemtime in the future.

As you have already heard or read in the bulletin today, this is a season of change in our parish leadership. As of 1st April, Pas William Chee will be posted over to St Hilda’s Church over at the Katong area, to serve under the vicar there, Canon Soon Soo Kee. Canon Soon is also the Dean of Vietnam and some of you will recall his message to us during one of our Misisons emphasis Sunday. The move will certainly be a lost to us, especially those of you who are closer to him and Siew Ngo, or have been blessed by his preaching ministry. We remind ourselves that he was trained throuh the Basel Church in Sabah, spent a stint serving in Church of our Saviour before coming to us. May we also be ready to release him when the call comes to serve elsewhere.

As was announced, Pas Richard has also moved on to serve as Director of SJCk as of 1st January. He resigned as parish worker late last year to faciilitate this move. Richard completed 14 years of pastoral ministry here. He will continue to help pastor the children ministry, which includes the SPK as well. Do keep him in your prayers as he continues to seek to serve as the Lord leads.
