A Life Equipped

As crazy as we can be, however, what we would really want to be known for is our passion for God and to see His glory revealed as we lift up our hearts and voices in song and dance. Our desire is to see the church totally abandoned to the praise and worship of the King of Kings.

You know the BIG ole Book known as The Bible? Well, it is where we draw our inspiration, encouragment and faith from, and 2 Corinthians 3:16-18 actually defines the VISION of this ministry.

But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

This is a prayer, not just for the ministry, but for every single individual that we serve, that worship is :

A Lifestyle
It is more than the songs and the music. It is the life that we live. God is holy, and demands pure and undiluted worship from His people.

A Surrendered and Obedient Life
This is our highest calling and greatest offering to God - a surrendered life lived in obedience to His will.

A Life lived In Freedom
To understand that true freedom can be found only in the Person of God, who came that we might have life and have it abundantly.

A Life Of Trust
It calls for total abandonment into the arms of a loving and faithful God, and that true worship calls for a stripping away of our masks.

GOAL for 2007 : Equipping

The Oxford dictionary defines “equip” as to “supply with the items needed for a purpose” or to “prepare (someone) mentally for a situation or task”. While the first speaks of a physical and tangible action, the second speaks of the strengthening of a person’s inner character.

It is our privilege to be able to serve the Levites of this ministry through

a) sharpening their technical skills that they might worship God and serve the people through skillful harnessing of their gifts
b) moulding the inner person through informal discipleship, teaching sessions and team sharing and prayers

Jack Hayford, in his book, Worship His Majesty expresses what we feel defines the essence and purpose for equipping : “The simple beauty in the first tottering steps of a child, overshadowing all absence of grace and form, is seeing sheer sparkle of joy’s adventure in his eyes. The progress is so small but the accomplishment so great.”

More than the imparting of technical skills, we want to see a generation of worshippers who unshamedly proclaim the greatness and majesty of God through their musicianship, vocals, movements and audio and visual creations. So If YOU think that this resounds with what is on your heart, and you would like to know more about us (and some of the characters...such as WHO is BOP??!), do drop us an email at worship@sjc.org.sg. We’ll be happy to meet up with you over a cuppa.  LOL
