Valley OF Dry Bones?

Wait a minute...a valley of dry bones to depict the Worship and Creative Arts Ministry (Worship and CAM)? Should not the Worship and CAM be described as being lively, vibrant, and colorful, given that it is a ministry blessed with many talents - music, voices, dance, audio and visual skills? Does it not strike a certain sense of dissonance in your spirit that we are described as a valley of very dry bones?

...He asked me, “Son of man, can these bones live?”
I said, “O Sovereign LORD, you alone know."…

...Then he said to me, “Prophesy to these bones and say to them, ‘Dry bones, hear the word of the LORD! This is what the Sovereign LORD says to these bones: I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life. I will attach tendons to you and make flesh come upon you and cover you with skin; I will put breath in you, and you will come to life. Then you will know that I am the LORD.’ “…

...So I prophesied as he commanded me, and breath entered them; they came to life and stood up on their feet—a vast army...

It says in 1st Corinthians 13:1-2 that “If [we] speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, [we] am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If [we] have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if [we] have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, [we are] nothing...”

It is said that God is love. Perhaps its reading too much into the text, but I believe that if we replace the word “love” with “Jesus” everytime it appears, it would change our perspective.

In a sense then, we all are dry bones, until the Spirit of God breath life into our being, attaching tendons, flesh and skin into all that we seek to do for Him. Until we allow God to put His Spirit into the work that we seek to do - play an instrument, sing a song, dance to a tune or create the best audio and visual experience; until we understand that God alone is our source and reason for worship will we ‘come to life...a vast army” of our God.

So, take us as we are
Use us for Your glory
For unless You build the house
We labor in vain

For in Your hands, Lord
The ordinary becomes beautiful

Ordinary hands
Ordinary hearts
Made extraordinary in God’s hands

Thank You, Lord
